I am a clinical social worker with a private practice in Livonia, Michigan. My specialty is therapy uniquely sensitive to the issues of trauma, adoption, and attachment.
I have been treating children, adolescents, adoptive families, and adult adoptees for over 30 years. I have trained extensively with Daniel Hughes, Ph.D. and utilize Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy as my primary treatment modality.
My passion for working in adoption and attachment comes from my own experience of being adopted. As an adoptee, I enter the therapeutic relationship with wisdom, insight, and empathy. This allows me to assess and treat core issues of adoption that affect children, adolescents, families, and adult adoptees.

THERAPEUTIC APPROACH:
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy is a comprehensive treatment approach that honors the relationship between the parent and child as the primary agent of healing and change. Through playfulness, love, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy (PLACE), parents can assist their child/teen in exploring the hurt and trauma of their past while in a therapeutically safe environment, thus facilitating healing. Further, in using PLACE as a philosophy I can assist parents to more deeply understand their child/teen, and help them utilize this therapeutic healing approach in other situations which in turn strengthens their attachment with their wounded child/teen.
Attachment COALITION of Michigan:
Over 27 years ago, I founded the Attachment COALITION of Michigan, a group of clinical socialworkers, psychologists, and counselors with specialized training and experience in trauma, attachment, and adoption. The COALITION is committed to strengthening professional development of its members, providing a comprehensive team approach to serve families, and facilitate local and national training on issues of attachment and trauma. Additionally, COALITION members have chosen to be a part of the Association for Treatment and Training in the Attachment of Children (ATTACh), a national organization, This affiliation furthers each therapists’ education by participating in annual conferences with leading experts in the areas of trauma, child development, neurobiology, and attachment-focused treatments.
